Queue Views (List, Kanban, Calendar)
In-depth explanation of the three queue views and when to use each one.
Switching Between Views
At the top of the Queue page, toggle buttons let you switch between List, Kanban, and Calendar views. Your selected view is remembered between sessions. Each view shows the same underlying data but presents it differently to suit various workflows. All views respect the currently active filters (status, priority, work center, date range).
List View
The list view displays work orders in a sortable, searchable table. Columns include: WO Number, Part Number, Customer, Status, Priority, Due Date, Assigned Station, and Quantity Progress. Click any column header to sort ascending or descending. The search bar at the top filters by WO number, part number, or customer name. This view is ideal for quickly finding a specific order or seeing a comprehensive inventory of all active work.
Kanban Board
The Kanban view organizes work orders into columns by status: Queued, In Progress, QC Hold, Complete, and Shipped. Each work order appears as a card showing key details. If your role permits, you can drag cards between columns to change their status — for example, dragging a card from "Queued" to "In Progress." The Kanban view is ideal for supervisors who want a visual workflow overview and need to quickly spot work orders stuck in a particular status.
Calendar View
The calendar view plots work orders on a weekly or monthly grid based on their due date. Each day cell shows the work orders due that day, color-coded by priority: blue (Low), green (Medium), orange (High), red (Rush). Click a day to see a detailed list of its orders. This view is particularly useful for production planning — you can see at a glance whether certain days are overloaded and need work to be rebalanced.
Filtering
All three views support the same filter controls: Status (multi-select checkboxes), Priority (multi-select), Work Center (dropdown), and Date Range (for due dates). Active filters are displayed as removable chips above the results. You can combine multiple filters — for example, show only High-priority Mill orders that are In Progress. Clearing all filters restores the full list.
Choosing the Right View
Use List view when you need to search or sort by specific fields, or when managing a large number of orders. Use Kanban when you want a visual workflow pipeline and need to see status distribution at a glance. Use Calendar when planning workload by due date and identifying scheduling conflicts. Many supervisors check Kanban at the start of a shift and Calendar during planning meetings.
