Managing Teams
Creating teams, adding members, configuring team-level settings, and understanding team scope.
What Are Teams?
Teams are sub-groups within your organization that define how data is scoped and who works together. Teams typically correspond to shifts (Day Shift, Night Shift), departments (CNC Department, Fabrication, Assembly), or production areas (Building A, Building B). Each team has its own set of stations, work orders, and members. A user's view is filtered to their active team.
Creating a Team
From the Teams page, click "Create Team." Enter a team name (e.g., "1st Shift CNC"), an optional description, and select a team lead (Supervisor). The team lead will manage daily operations — they can invite members, configure stations, and monitor production. You can create as many teams as your subscription plan allows.
Adding and Removing Members
On the team detail page, click "Add Member" to add existing organization members to the team. Search by name or email and select the user. A user can belong to multiple teams (e.g., an operator who covers both day and night shifts), but they can only be actively checked into one station at a time. To remove a member, click the remove icon next to their name. Removing them from the team does not remove them from the organization.
Team-Level Settings
Each team can override certain organization-level defaults: shift schedule (different start/end times), refresh interval (how often dashboards poll for new data), and notification preferences (which events generate alerts for team members). These overrides ensure that a night shift team is not bound to a day shift schedule, or that a fast-paced team can poll more frequently.
Archiving a Team
If a team is no longer active (e.g., a shift was eliminated, a department was reorganized), you can archive it instead of deleting it. Archiving preserves all historical data — handoffs, work order records, analytics — for audit and reporting purposes, but removes the team from active selection. Archived teams can be restored if needed.
